Congratulations to our Math Challengers Club, and particularly Chloe Chen and Samuel Gan, for competing so well at last weekend's competition at UBC.
By Mr. Bruce Ito, Head of Mathematics
Congratulations to our grades 8 and 9 math whizzes who arrived at UBC at 8:30am last Saturday, February 14 for the annual Math Challengers Club Competition.
Led by captain Andy Cho, our students were excited and a little nervous as they surveyed the hundreds of students milling about. But they quickly got down to business, working through increasingly difficult, brain-busting math problems.
After the results were tabulated, we found out that Chloe Chen, grade 9, and Samuel Gan, grade 8, placed in the top 10. Chloe and Samuel then competed in the tough "face-off" stage, with Chloe winning two rounds. In the end, our grade 8 team achieved an honourable mention.
I am so proud of our students for supporting each other and for representing the school with integrity. It was especially great to see them cheer Chloe and Daniel in the final round. Once again, great job, math challengers!
