Canadian Art Inspiration

By Ms. Heather Korlak, Director of Fine and Performing Arts, Junior School

Last term, our grade 3 artists were inspired by the Group of Seven; Melissa McKinnon, a contemporary landscape artist based in Calgary; and other Canadian artists. Students masked out birch tree shapes, used a variety of tools to create birch bark, and added impressionistic “globs” of paint to create colourful leaves. The overall effect is stunning.

Well done, grade 3!
