By Mr. M. Wong and Ms. R. Ruus, Coaches

The junior track & field team won its 6th straight BC elementary provincial track & field championship on May 28-30 at Minoru Park. The girls also won their 4th overall girls provincial in 6 years.

We entered 225 athletes on this weekend, competing in 700 events and participating in 40 relay teams. The goal of many of our athletes is to achieve a 'personal best' either in their runs, jumps, or throws. If they have accomplished this, it is a wonderful success. We are proud of every single one of our athletes who has participated this season.

We would like to thank all our coaches - Mrs. Muschamp, Mrs. Vickers, Mrs. Patel, Mrs. Mui, Mrs. Murphy, Mr. Naso, Mr. Mah, Ms. Karam, Ms. Shaw, Mrs. Adsit-Morris, Ms. Brymer, Ms. Moxey, Ms. Melville, Mr. Garinger, Mr. Allester and Justin Khouw - and the administration team - Mr. Austin, Mrs. Corcoran, Mr. Young - who have shown leadership, support, and enthusiasm to all our young athletes. Thanks also go to all the parents driving their children to and from the meet and trusting us with their training and conditioning.

Finally, I cannot thank enough Mrs. Jones, Ms. Neil and Mrs. Muschamp who have been there with me since the beginning.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
