School Mask Policy
Per updated provincial guidelines
, mask wearing is a personal choice in schools for students, staff and visitors effective March 28, 2022. We encourage those staff and students who prefer to continue to wear their mask to do so; WPGA is a mask-friendly school. Masks are recommended though not required for those who are unvaccinated.
Federal Regulations Following Re-Entry to Canada - Mask Wearing Mandatory for 14 Days
According to federal travel regulations
, those who have travelled outside Canada are required to wear a well-constructed and well-fitting mask when in public spaces, both indoors and outdoors, for 14 days following entry into Canada. This includes while at school for students, staff and visitors who travelled outside of Canada during Spring Break. Note:
Federal rules supersede provincial travel guidelines.

Daily Health Check
It is required that all families review the Daily Health Check
prior to coming to school every day. Please keep your child at home if they have any symptoms of Covid, cold or flu.
If your child exhibits any sign of illness, they will be sent to our nurses office, who will contact you to pick them up immediately.
Updated Covid isolation period: Students who have Covid must isolate at home:
- For at least 5 days since your symptoms started (or from test date if you did not have symptoms)
- AND until you no longer have a fever
- AND your symptoms improve
You do not need to be re-tested for COVID-19 after your self-isolation period ends in order to return to normal activities. Families and staff do NOT need to provide the school with a medical note/test confirming their improved health status.
Attending school if a household member/sibling is ill:
If a household member tests positive for Covid-19, others in the home will need to self-monitor for symptoms. Close contacts are not required to self-isolate. Click here
for public health instructions.
However, we request that siblings not attend school until it is determined that they are not feeling ill or developing symptoms (min. 1-2 days). If you are unsure as to whether your child should attend or return to school, please contact our nurses
, who will follow up as soon as possible.
