WPGA’s Parent Volunteer Group (PVG) is an integral part of WPGA's spirited and supportive parent and volunteer culture. The PVG's mission is to
- Promote and maintain communication between the PVG and the school community
- Enhance our children’s experience at the school
- Encourage parents to volunteer, fundraise and promote a strong school community
To that end, the PVG coordinates many school community events, such as the Gala, Loonie Sale and Sports Day, and fundraises for enhanced school programs, such as robotics, debate, Model UN and Connected North, as well as special purchases, such as athletic gear, band and choir uniforms, iPads, and film and science equipment. The 2016 Gala, for example, raised over $515,000 for special programs and projects, including the teaching gardens to be built in summer 2016. The 2015 Gala fundraised for technology and furniture for the Makerspace in the Learning Commons. For a list of PVG purchases in 2015-2016, see page 33 of the school's annual report
