WPGA’s Parent Volunteer Group (PVG) is an integral part of WPGA's spirited and supportive parent and volunteer culture. The PVG's mission is to
- Promote and maintain communication between the PVG and the school community
- Enhance our children’s experience at the school
- Encourage parents to volunteer, fundraise and promote a strong school community
To that end, the PVG coordinates many school community events, such as the Gala, Toonie Sale and Sports Day, and fundraises for enriched programs, such as robotics, debate, Model UN and Connected North, as well as special purchases such as athletic gear, band and choir uniforms, iPads, and film and science equipment. The 2017 Gala, for example, raised over $820,000 for facility improvements and program enhancements, including the Upper Gym, to be built in fall 2017. The 2016 Gala fundraised for the teaching gardens and outdoor furniture. For a list of PVG purchases in 2015-2016, see page 33 of the school's Annual Report. Ways to Volunteer:
The PVG offers many ways to volunteer, such as crosswalk and playground supervision, event support, and Lost and Found. To get involved, connect with a committee chair
or attend our general meetings.
