DECA Business Competition February 20

By Mr. Alfred Lu and Ms. Mimi Jones

Great business sense, economic knowledge, quick thinking, vision and policy ideas all come together at the DECA Business Case Study Competition. DECA is an association of high school and college teachers and students that prepares students to be business leaders and entrepreneurs. A common DECA event is the case study competition, at which students, working in pairs, have 20 minutes to prepare a business case and 10 minutes to present their ideas to a judge.

In 2016, WPGA hosted the first DECA competition in BC, and alumnae Rui Maki ’16 and Taylor Ball ’16 came out on top. This year's competition will again be hosted by WPGA on Monday, February 20, 4pm-7pm, and is organized by the superbly capable Eva Zhang, grade 12.

The event will feature a guest speaker, three rounds of competition and a dinner. Once again, other schools will be challenging WPGA for top honours. If you are a student interested in entering the competition, see Mr. Lu, Ms. Jones or Eva Zhang. We are also looking for parents to be volunteer judges. Training will be provided on the day of the event. If interested, please contact Mr. Lu or Ms. Jones.

We look forward to seeing our future business tycoons at DECA!
