Cross Country Wins Silver at BC Championships

By Mr. Sean Dawson & Ms. Susan Kimura, Cross Country Coaches

The cross country season began 12 weeks ago at the Whistler Training Camp and wrapped up this past weekend at BC Championships. We were blessed with a fantastic team—from the grade 12 captains to the rookie grade 8s, this team boasted amazing chemistry, camaraderie, and oodles of running talent.

The Wolves won multiple division titles at the Steilacoom and Mt. SAC meets in the US, dominated at both the league and zone levels, and were poised to carry on their winning ways at BCs. Alas, not everything goes as planned. Although provincial titles eluded us this season, the team finished 2nd in three (of four) divisions. This is the best full team performance of any school in years. We are super proud of this group: their energy, character and grit are among the best teams we've ever coached.

Huge kudos to these outstanding athletes on a terrific meet and season.

*On a side note, this group has a cross country TikTok account. Several of their posts have gone viral, and their most recent was picked up by ESPN and now has 1.3 million views. Their idea has been copied by high schools and universities around the US and Canada! If you are interested in seeing any posts, we are positive they would love to show you.

We extend a special shout-out to our amazing grads. This season would not have been as special without them: Alexandra Bradford-Patterson, Lucy Campbell, Liam Dachner, Ella Dawe, Eva Kriebel, Peter Neill, Mac Steenburgh and Taya Watkins. You will be missed next season.

We would also like to thank our alumni coaches, Katie de Carle '10, Sarah Diamond '17, Lindy Moxham '18 and Audrey Warner '14, for their continued support of the program.
