VYMUN Junior 2022

By Ms. Jenise Boland, Model UN Coach

WPGA's senior school students are delighted to host the 17th iteration of the Vancouver Youth Model United Nations Conference (VYMUN). We are excited to launch a specialized stream solely for grade 7 students this year. The purpose of this stream is to introduce students who have never participated in a Model UN conference to the style, procedures and fun that goes with being a diplomat.

This year's committee is the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Committee (UNHCR). The topic is "Empowering refugees through technology"; a backgrounder will be available to students upon registration.

Conference Details:
  • Date: Friday, October 21 (8am-1pm) *This is a professional development day, so students won't miss classes.
  • Location: WPGA Senior School
  • Registration: Click here to register. The fee is $40 (includes continental breakfast and snacks)
  • Refunds: We are not able to accommodate refunds after October 1.
  • Chaperone Policy: Students must be affiliated with a school and must have a coach/teacher sponsor accompany them to the conference at all times.

A more detailed schedule will follow in early October. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Jeffrey Liu, VYMUN Junior Director General, or Ms. Jenise Boland, VYMUN teacher sponsor.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
