The junior school cross-country team capped off a very successful season with a third consecutive girls title. Fifteen schools from across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island competed during the ISEA Cross-Country Championships held at Quilchena Park on Wednesday. Our team consisted of over 140 students from grades 3 through 7. Students raced between 1km and 3km, depending on their age, on a hilly course around the park. Every WPGA athlete raced well and many achieved personal best placings. Our boys team had their best meet yet, placing a very close second behind St. George's School (we were second by only 8 points!). WPGA placed in the top 3 spots in every grade event. Our grade 6 girls team finished second through eighth place in their race, led by Giselle Steiner. Jocelyn Chambers and Luca Comparelli both won their 2km races, and Leiah Kirsh and Hannah Dodd placed second and third respectively in the grade 7 girls race.

The team has worked so hard all season and their efforts were rewarded at this final event. Thank you to all the parents who have come out and run at practices and to all the volunteers at meets. A huge thank you to all the coaches for their enthusiasm and time.

Happy Trails!
