We are pleased to host two parent education sessions for junior school parents, presented by Patti Drobot and Colleen Drobot of the Neufeld Institute. Both sessions are in the cafeteria (senior school). To RSVP, please email Kirsten Bowles or Krista Scaligine, junior school counsellors.

Tuesday, September 25, 7pm-9pm
"Parenting Young Children"
(This session is for parents of children in junior kindergarten to grade 3.)
Overview: Parents want their children to take cues from them and to allow them to offer the guidance, care and limitations that optimize healthy child development. This presentation encourages parents to secure the alpha-position in the family to provide the security and care young children need.

Thursday, October 11, 7pm-9pm
"Discipline That Doesn't Divide"
(This session is for parents of students in grades 4 to 7.)
Overview: Many parenting practices preclude healthy parent-child attachment. This presentation outlines the seven principles of discipline that promote developmentally appropriate parent-child attachment. Parents will explore ways to bring order to children’s behaviours without damaging the relationship.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
