Aligned with the provincial focus on reflective goal-setting, our annual student-led sharing sessions are March 1 and 2 and will be paired with our March midyear learning report, available March 1 on WolfNet. This midyear report will include a homeroom teacher comment and a student reflection and for intermediate grades, it will include letter grades (grades 4-6) or percentages (grade 7) as well. For all grades, the report is both a snapshot of the student’s learning progress and a way for students to reflect on the goals they set earlier this year. It is a thoughtful process that gives students ownership of their learning; the teacher’s role is to coach and support each child to be more self-reliant and aware of their learning strengths, challenges and goals. At WPGA, we have long implemented the philosophy imbedded in the new curriculum, continually helping students set realistic goals for themselves and encouraging thoughtful reflection to enhance learning and comprehension.
Back
Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
