At WPGA, our behaviours are guided by our core values, one being character driven
, in that we model empathy and integrity as the basis for our actions. In nurturing students' potential in all areas, we nurture their social and emotional growth, with the goal of inspiring them to be compassionate citizens who care deeply about their peers, their communities and their own wellbeing.
Our junior school counsellors oversee our signature character education program, CARE (Confident, Authentic, Respectful, Empathetic). This curriculum begins in junior kindergarten, and uses strengths-based themes in social-emotional learning to develop confident, caring, character driven young people. CARE cultivates self and social awareness, fostering the knowledge and skills necessary to express and manage emotions, demonstrate respect and empathy for others, seek health and wellness, and identify and grow strengths of character.
In the senior school, empathy, inclusiveness and social justice are embedded into our service and leadership programs, which include dozens of local community initiatives each year and international outreach trips at Spring Break.
