Empowering Students to Make a Difference

At WPGA, giving back is central to our school's mission and core values. We believe a meaningful education includes opportunities for students to be informed citizens who are actively and compassionately involved in their local and global communities.

Local Service Initiatives
At both the Junior School and Senior School, we support over 60 student-led service initiatives each year, such as cleaning up Jericho Beach and fundraising for the Red Cross, BC Children’s Hospital, Vancouver Food Bank, Kid Sport, Covenant House, Project Backpack, Salvation Army, Backpack Buddies, KidSafe, Seymour School, Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, African Library Project, BC SPCA, and Terry Fox Foundation.

Global Service Trips & Partnerships
At the Senior School, students run Service Council and may participate in international service trips during Spring Break; the 2023 Spring Break trip was to Guatemala in partnership with Project Somos, a sustainable community development project. The Senior School also coordinates the Hogar de Gina Club, which provides friendship, social activities and language lessons for residents of the Hogar de Gina home for girls in Peru.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
