By Ms. Jenise Boland, Social Studies Teacher
On May 16, students in Social Studies 10 and Law 12 participated in a
unique and exciting opportunity to speak directly with Senators Mary Coyne and David Wells. Our students, along with students from Alberta, Ontario and Nova Scotia, asked thought-provoking questions about regionalism; representation of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples; and the democratic process. Together with Mr. Morden and I, as well as the Taking It Global team out of the University of Alberta, students seized the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of global events and to interact one-on-one with Canadian leaders in parliamentary democracy. Our students represented WPGA with pride and passion.
