Varsity Girls Soccer at Provincials

By Ms. Kelly Macintyre, Varsity Girls Soccer Coach

The varsity girls soccer team finished in 9th place at the BC High School Championships in Nakusp last weekend. The girls showed amazing competitive spirit and grit throughout the tournament. Here is a recap:

Day 1:
We won our first game 3-1 versus Hazelton, thanks to goals from Josie, Naomi and Jaza. Player of the game was Talia.

The second game was a huge back and forth battle versus Kelowna Christian, with Kelowna pulling ahead 3-2 with 4 minutes to go. The Wolves battled back to tie 3-3 in the last two minutes of play. Josie scored a hat trick and was named player of the game. It was a gritty performance from all.

Day 2:
We lost a tough back and forth game to Glenlyon Norfolk 3-2. Unfortunately, this loss put us 3rd in our pool, making 9th place our best finish possible. Josie scored both goals and Anna was named MVP.

After the loss, we regrouped and won our second game versus Fraser Lake 5-1, with goals by Josie (3) and Jaza (2). Rio was named MVP.

Day 3:
We faced Desert Sands in our last game and won 4-0 to secure 9th place. Josie and Rio each scored two goals. Naomi was named MVP.

Overall, it was a great trip with a fantastic group of girls and tons of smiles and laughter.
