Junior School Sports Day signals the beginning of the end of another action-packed year at WPGA. This was an especially welcomed celebration to unite students across the school in their best house-coloured outfits, exuding team pride.
New this year, Sports Day was split into primary and intermediate divisions to ensure maximum social distancing, with every class cohort tackling six different stations (Egg & Spoon, Ring Toss, Parachute, Soccer Shootout, Treasure Chest, Hula Hoop Rock Paper Scissors, Sprints, Sidewalk Chalk, Skittles, Dance Party, Water Sponge Relay, Tug of War, Gaga Ball, Bouncy Hopper Relay, Basketball Shoot, Hunger Games, Quadrant Stones). While we missed having parents and siblings in attendance, we are very grateful to the PVG, who provided us with little goodie bags to help us celebrate the day in style.
A special thank-you to Nicky Cannon, grade 6 emcee, who brought such joy to the event with his jokes, trivia and awesome playlist!
Please spend a few moments and check out our JS Sports Day videos(including final sports day assembly, station highlight video, family cheers and our house boards) to see all the fun we got up to!
We hope everyone enjoyed Sports Day, and congratulations to Grouse for winning this year’s event. Have a happy and active summer break!
Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
