Our track and field season ended this past weekend at the BC Elementary Track & Field Championships in Richmond. And what a season!
Our athletes achieved many personal bests, and this season we broke 10 school records, one dating to 2005! If some of you were around back then, the 2005 4x100 team included Carla Vicic, Katherine Tourigny, Madeline Gray and Eleanor MacLean, 59.54s. On Saturday, 18 years later, their record was surpassed by Chloe Ip Jansen, Megan Lam, Reese Lui and Elena Yang, 59.40s.
Bill Zhao broke five school records (three individual and two relays). Julia Cao, Chloe Ip Jansen and Megan Lam broke individual school records as well.
Thanks to ALL our student athletes on an incredible effort and commitment to our many practices and meets (and to the parents, too!). As always, thanks to Mr. Danyluk and our coaches for their dedication. Cheers to an amazing season, Wolves!
Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
