Environmental Sustainability Council Hosts Thrift Bonanza

By Matt Campbell '27 and Gordon Liang '27

On Wednesday, April 24, the Environmental Sustainability Council hosted the first-ever Thrift Bonanza, an event that encouraged students to swap out their old clothes for something new without spending much or creating waste. Students brought in gently used clothing and received tickets based on the quality of their donations, with each ticket representing one dollar in value. These tickets could then be used to "purchase" other donated items at the event. Students who didn’t donate clothes could still take part by buying tickets with cash, making the event accessible to all.

Beyond just shopping, the event featured an exciting raffle element and an epic musical performance from Environmental Council’s own DJ Cole. Students could use their tickets to enter draws for prizes like a Casual Dress Day for two, a free cafeteria lunch, or a $25 gift card to Little Umbrella. The Thrift Bonanza was a hit, drawing a large crowd and creating a fun, community-focused atmosphere. By giving clothes a second life, the event promoted sustainability while helping students refresh their wardrobes in a budget-friendly and eco-friendly way.
