Welcome Back to the Library!

By Ms. Devin St-Amour and Ms. Caitlin Elias, Teacher Librarians, library@wpga.ca

At WPGA, we challenge students academically to reach their full potential as well as prepare them to be successful citizens and lifelong, self-directed learners. Our library team works to accomplish these goals by supporting teachers with their curriculum, providing weekly lessons, and promoting school initiatives such as the Birthday Books Fundraiser, World Book Week, and Freedom to Read Week. We are beyond thrilled to have students back in our library space this year for weekly lessons and borrowing, and we can’t wait for the library fun to begin!

Please remind your child to bring their summer reading passports to the first library class (library classes begin September 8) to obtain recognition for their hard work and their star on the wall!

Birthday Book Club Registration:
JK-7 parents, register your child for our Birthday Book Club! For $30, a book is donated in your child's name to our school library—and they are the first to borrow it! If your child has a birthday in July, August or September, their book will be given to them in October 2025. A commemorative plaque will be placed in the front of the book for all readers to see for years to come. Please register here by Monday, September 22.

Library Borrowing Refreshers:
  • Take note of your child’s weekly library day and try to help them return their books.
  • If students forget to return their book, they may borrow another, with the hope that they’ll return the book the next week.
  • Primary students can borrow two books for one week.
  • Intermediate students can borrow up to 10 books at a time.
  • Grade 6+ can access our Teen collection.
  • Grade 4+ have access to our extensive ebook and audiobook collection on Sora.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
