Hallow-Green Costumes: Reduce, Reuse & Recycle!

By Deryn, Cece and Leila, Grade 7 Community Service Leaders

Happy Halloween, Wolves! We are all so excited for a spooky Halloween. You can also save money and make "Hallow-Green" costumes. Some people have been a tree, a cow, and even a laundry machine. They made all their costumes with items like scrap fabric and cardboard.

If you want to participate in Hallow-Green this year, make sure your costume is either recycled or re-used or both! There are a lot of ways to not purchase a costume. For example, you can borrow from friends or family members, make something yourself or use something you already have. Even something secondhand counts as Hallow-green.

We would love to see your Hallow-Green outfits! If you are participating in Hallow-Green, we would love it if you submitted a photo. Please email them to Ms. Hamilton by Thursday, October 30 at noon. Please put Hallow-Green in the subject line. On Friday, October 31, members of our community service team will visit every class and distribute five house points to every Hallow-Green costume.

We hope you have a spooky Halloween and we are so excited to see all of your costumes. Let's reduce, reuse and recycle for Hallow-Green!

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
