Kind Mind Confi-DANCE December 3

By Ms. Kirsten Bowles, Junior School Counsellor

On November 25, we had 80 parents attend the presentation “Managing Big Emotions” hosted by Sheldon Franken and the Kelty Foundation. The slides for his presentation are here

Sheldon underscored the parent-child relationship as foundational for a child’s mental health and provided practical tools for helping our children (and ourselves) manage big emotions.

But Wait! There’s More!
December 3, 3:35pm-4:35pm: Kind Mind Confi-DANCE!
In their Kind Mind lessons, students became familiar with DJ Beau, who is the friendly face of the program and a champion of self-awareness and kindness.

On Wednesday, December 3, DJ Beau and the Kindness crew will host a student dance party in our Upper Gym after school! This optional event is open to all students from JK-7. Throughout the event, DJ Beau stresses the importance of kindness to self and others and will reflect on the lessons learned throughout the month. The event will be quite loud and high energy with familiar tunes, engagement prizes, sing-alongs and dance-offs.

While parents are welcome to attend with their children, we will arrange for primary students to be escorted to the gym by their teachers. The event will be well supervised and you are welcome to collect your children at 4:30pm when the event is concluding.

All students are invited to wear dance clothes to school that day and comfortable shoes. Children will be reminded to fill a water bottle before they go!

Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
