On November 25, Mulgrave School hosted the Provincial Public Speaking Championships for all schools in BC. WPGA sent six speakers to this event, which included four categories of speech: persuasive speaking, impromptu, dramatic and interpretive reading, as well as debate. Our speakers were poised, prepared and ready for the competition! At the end of eight rounds, our junior speakers had managed to sweep the event, placing top 3 overall as well as winning individual categories. Not to be forgotten, our senior speakers took home their share of awards. The final results are as follows:
Mallory M. was 1st in impromptu and persuasive, 2nd in debate and interpretive, and 1st overall
Rafeeq K-J was 3rd in debate and 2nd overall
Ethan J. was 1st in debate, 2nd in impromptu and persuasive, and 3rd overall
Tiffany C. was 1st in senior impromptu
Vivian Z. was 2nd in senior persuasive
Emily H. was 2nd in debate and 3rd in dramatic
A special thank-you to Ms. Spencer and alumnus Jack Bacon for running the tournament and to the parents and staff members who came out to judge. It was a terrific weekend and we appreciated the support.
