Senior Global Connections Recap 2023

By Mr. Lusheen Beaumont, English and Humanities Teacher

WPGA's Intercultural Club recently wrapped up Global Connections Week in the Senior School, with 10 unique events spread out over every day of the week. Highlights included an electrifying assembly given by guest speaker Rabbi Philip Bregman followed by a roundtable debrief the next day as well as a dynamic showcase debate on Western foreign policy, which teamed up Mr. Macintosh and Mr. Aryan versus Mr. Beaumont and Yufei, our debate captain. We screened an Oscar-nominated Tunisian film, enjoyed a collaborative activity with Hogar de Gina on Latinx Day, and savoured Mexican hot chocolate and homemade Delen family Belgian crepes. Ms. Carrington led a matcha-tasting event, which had lines stretching into the corridor throughout lunch.

Finally, the week closed with our first annual Food Expo, which filled the cafeteria with a smorgasbord of snacks and homemade delights from students and faculty that represented over a dozen culinary traditions. The expo also offered us the opportunity to say goodbye to our Mexican exchange students and to express gratitude for the reciprocal opportunities to share stories and cultural perspectives.
