Plot Summary

The Man Who Came to Dinner by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart is a comedy full of romance, drama, and even some penguins! Set in Ohio at Christmas in the late 1930s, radio personality Sheridan Whiteside (Jack Carriere, grade 12) slips on ice outside the residence of the Stanleys, a prominent family. He becomes their unexpected houseguest, on bedrest for the holiday season, and offers unsolicited advice to family members. Whiteside is also madly in love with his trusted secretary, Miss Maggie Cutler (Emma Tovey, grade 11), but unfortunately, she has an agenda of her own. She has fallen in love with Bert Jefferson (Matthew Babbitt, grade 12). To put an end to this love triangle, Whiteside enlists the help of famous actress Lorraine Sheldon (Lauren Newell-Madu, grade 12) to break up the puppy lovers. A series of unfortunate events and some very unwanted blackmail ensues. Will Sheridan succeed or fail in his quest for love?
