Gwynne Dyer at WPGA on May 2

By Mr. Andrew Bendl, Head of Social Studies, Senior School

The socials department is excited to announce that on Tuesday, May 2, we will have the privilege of hosting Gwynne Dyer, renowned journalist and historian. With a distinguished career spanning several decades, Mr. Dyer is a leading authority on international affairs, military history and geopolitical strategy. His latest work, The Shortest History of War, published last September, has received widespread critical acclaim, and quickly made it onto The Globe and Mail's bestseller list.

During his upcoming lecture, Mr. Dyer will delve into the complexities of war through the lens of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Using this conflict as a starting point, he will explore the root causes of war and the challenges of finding peaceful solutions to violent conflicts. Mr. Dyer's insightful analysis and thoughtful commentary promise to offer a unique perspective on one of the most pressing issues of our time.

Mr. Dyer’s lecture will begin promptly at 2:20pm in the Lower Gym. Grades 10-12 students will be attending this lecture during PEAKS. The lecture will end at 3:30pm.

We invite WPGA parents and alumni to attend this event, and look forward to a thought-provoking and engaging discussion with one of the foremost experts in the field.
