Our annual Parent Book Club for JK–Grade 7 families begins this month! We invite you to join us for three morning sessions at 8:30am in room 216, the Discovery and Reflection Studio.
Tuesday, January 27 Tuesday, February 17 (changed from February 10) Tuesday, February 24
We’ll enjoy coffee, fresh baking, and meaningful conversation as we explore The Whole-Brain Child by Dr. Daniel J. Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson.
This groundbreaking book draws on the research of neuropsychiatrist Dr. Siegel and the practical expertise of parenting educator Dr. Bryson. It translates complex neuroscience into clear, practical strategies parents can use to nurture emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy brain development in children. The material is applicable to parents of all elementary-aged children.
We ask that participants read the first two chapters for our first meeting on January 27. Although we will begin with a brief review of the material, we will spend the majority of the session applying the principles to real-life examples in our own parenting. Come ready to listen, learn, share, and grow!
Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
