Traffic and Parking Update

General traffic flow around the school continues to be monitored carefully, particularly as we move into the darker and wetter months. While many parents have commented on the improvements, it is important to remind ourselves of the school's expectations which exist to establish a traffic flow plan that:

• ensures the safety of our students, staff, parents and visitors to WPGA,

• is considerate of our neighbours given the impact our traffic has on our immediate neighbourhood, and

• maximizes the convenience for us all, given the existing challenges of our campus driveways, parking lots and surrounding roadways.

4th Ave Parking Lot

• The West 4th Ave. lower parking lot is the primary lot for drop-off, pick-up and parking for students in Grades 1-7.

• Please do not park or drop off in the area adjacent to the mini playground located on the west side of the lot. Parking in this area only leads to congestion as parents cannot exit during peak periods.

• Please be patient, use the parking stalls as directed and follow any signage to assist with general traffic flow.

8th Ave Upper Drop-off/Pick-up Lot

• The West 8th Avenue upper lot (located on 8th Ave. between Courtenay St. and Discovery St.) is the drop-off and pick-up lot for students in Grades 8-12.

• Please drive right into a stall to drop-off.

• If there are no open stalls, drive right to the end of the lot before dropping off.

• Please use your turn signals and be aware of cyclists around you.

Construction continues to make student drop-off and pick-up challenging. Presently we have roadwork on Discovery St. as well as on the school driveway off 8th Ave., restricting access to the 8th Ave lower parking lot. We appreciate your patience and compliance with our expectations.
