Traffic Expectations and Crosswalk Support

By Mr. J. Pike, Vice Principal, Director of Student Life, Senior School

Parking and traffic flow are critical to keeping our community safe. Please review our expectations, and consider becoming a traffic volunteer!
By Mr. J. Pike, Vice Principal, Director of Student Life, Senior School

Our traffic guidelines prioritize student safety while respecting the rights and concerns of our neighbours and school community. We continue to monitor drop-off and pick up procedures carefully, and although traffic flow around the school has improved considerably, a number of families still do not meet these expectations, thereby jeopardizing student safety.

Traffic and Parking Expectations
• The West 8th Ave. lower parking lot is reserved exclusively for JK and kindergarten families.
• The West 4th Ave. lower parking lot is the primary drop-off, pick-up and parking lot for students in grades 1-7. Note: The small parking lot outside the gym and pool is not a drop off location.
• The West 8th Ave. upper lot (between Courtenay and Discovery streets) is the primary drop-off and pick-up lot for students in grades 8-12. Note: This a drive-through drop-off lot only (no parking) between 8am-8:30am. Student drivers and staff are not permitted to park here during the school day.
• The school driveway is closed to parents between 7:30am-4:40pm (emergencies excepted).

Parent Crosswalk Volunteers Needed
If any parents can provide crosswalk support at the marked crosswalk at 8th Ave. upper lot any morning or afternoon (20 minutes either time), please email Jonathan Pike

Thank you to all parents, students and staff who respect our driving and parking expectations, and to our parent volunteers who help to direct traffic and parking every morning (rain or shine!).

Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
