JS Student-Led Sharing Sessions – Wednesday, March 4

By Mr. Alex Ross, Vice Principal of Learning, Junior School

The Junior School is pleased to host our annual student-led sharing sessions on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 8:30am-3:30pm. This will be a noninstructional day; students will only be on campus to participate in the in-person sharing sessions. Regular school uniform is required.

Our midyear learning report, to be released March 3, will include student reflections that relate to these sessions and students' subsequent growth. For all grades, this is a thoughtful process that gives students ownership of their learning; the teacher’s role is to coach and support each child to be more self-reliant and aware of their learning strengths, challenges and goals.

At the sessions, students share with parents their learning journey and the goals they have set. The sessions align with the provincial focus on reflective goal-setting and Core Competencies: the sets of intellectual, personal, and social and emotional proficiencies that all students need to develop to be lifelong learners.

At WPGA, we have long implemented the philosophy embedded in the curriculum, helping students set realistic goals for themselves and encouraging reflection to enhance learning and comprehension. It will be a wonderful opportunity to see the school through your children’s eyes.

Registration Information:
Registration opens February 5 at 9am through the Resource Board on WolfNet and closes March 2. Each 20-minute time slot accommodates up to five student/family groups, so we encourage you to sign up early to secure your preferred time. After each session, there will be an optional 15-minute school tour, led by students.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
