Fun Fundraising for Adam's Apples

By Mr. Dave Chevreau, Senior School Counsellor

There is nothing like the fun of receiving a candygram from a friend, secret admirer or special someone, especially when that candygram comes in the form of a delicious caramel-covered apple!

Under the inspired leadership of Jaiya, grade 11, and Fortune, grade 9, a small but dedicated team of students raised $240 for the Adam’s Apples Foundation through a Caramel Apple-Gram Drive. More importantly, we raised smiles and an increased awareness of the importance of kindness within our school community. Chef Jeff provided superb culinary guidance throughout the process and, as far as we know, everyone’s teeth remain intact!

The Adam’s Apples Foundation supports students in 36 schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and is committed to building caring communities and to promoting healthy choices and connections for elementary and secondary students. WPGA was one of the first schools to partner with Adam's Apples. Mr. Anthony’s profound idea of “take two” is at the core of Adam's Apples' mandate. That is, take two apples from one of the bowls in Ms. Corcoran's office, Mr. Anthony's office, the Thought Lab or The Study. One apple is for you and the other is for a friend or for someone who might need a smile and friendly conversation.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the fundraiser and who continues to spread kindness within our caring school community.
