Honey Workshop for Micro Critter Club

By Samantha Pon '28

Before Winter Break, members of WPGA's Micro Critter Club had the wonderful opportunity of attending a honey extraction workshop. Members learned about different types of honey and bees and how to extract honey. Hands-on activities made it a fun and engaging session to attend. The room was buzzing with anticipation and chatter. Students got to scrape off honey from a comb, taste two different types of honey, churn honey, and package their very own jar of fresh, rewarding sweetness.

It was amazing to learn that the same process we went through is the same process for the professionals from Alveole who take care of our school's hives. It was fascinating to learn the behind-the-scenes process of a simple jar of honey.
