Good Things are Growing with Greenscapes

By Ms. Jenise Boland, Social Studies Teacher

With the warm weather on the way, WPGA's Greenscapes team is gearing up to tend to the plants, pathways and pine trees on our campus. Grades 8-12 students who take part in Greenscapes complete gardening tasks on their own schedule, choosing 15, 20 or 30-minute tasks that they can complete during recess, lunch break, or before/after school. Students can earn up to one volunteer hour per week toward service hours or Duke of Edinburgh achievement. Plus, you’ll be helping to keep our WPGA landscapes clean, green and pristine!

Greenscapes check-ins with Ms. Boland are on Wednesdays at lunch, but students can sign up online on their own for any task using this link. The process is simple: Choose the week(s) you want to sign up for and then select the task(s) you want to complete. Once you have completed the task, take a photo of yourself and the completed task and add it to your Greenscapes Google Doc. Be sure to add a link to your picture.

Check the sign-up page for more details or email Ms. Boland to create your Greenscapes Google doc.

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
