ISABC Youth Sustainability Conference

By Tiffany Zhang '26

On February 23, Mr. Harding guided six senior school students, Thomas Chen ‘24, Vivian Liu ‘24, Cindy Zhu ‘24, Tiffany Zhang ‘26, Quinton Meng ‘26, and Fleur St-Amour ‘28, through the second iteration of the ISABC Youth Sustainability Conference at UBC.

Together we learned, explored, and held insightful discussions with students and teachers across British Columbia to discover creative methods and encourage environmental sustainability within our community.

In “Putting the FUN in Climate Action FUNdamental,” students identified fun approaches to preserving and caring for our environment, such as building a garden, initiating clothing swaps, and hosting beach cleanups around the West Coast. In “Creating an Effective Sustainability Plan For Your School," students brainstormed possible strategies to promote climate action in our schools, which we will seek to implement as soon as possible so that WPGA can be at the forefront of environmental sustainability initiatives.

If you’re interested in getting involved in environmental leadership and attending future trips, come to a Monday lunch meeting in room 204 or contact Mr. Johnston or Mr. Harding. And be sure to stay updated with the Environmental Leadership Club to discover the exciting climate events we have in store for the rest of the school year!
