This month WPGA junior and senior teams competed in the Destination Imagination Provincial Tournament in West Vancouver. Along with fine minds from all over British Columbia, our four teams presented well thought-out solutions to challenges that targeted particular areas of curriculum, such as technical, structural, fine arts and improvisation. Using hydraulics, illusions, marionettes and assorted street performances, they both impressed and entertained the appraisers. Congratulations to the following student teams on their performances.

"No Strings Attached": Herman Li, Chloe Chen, Anthony Shiwa, Tyler Yen, McKerron Scott, Shireen Dalby and Alice Yu placed 1st overall for their wordless solution to the Structural Challenge.

"Destination Improvisation”: Madeleine Liu, Malika Agarwal, David Powell, Nicholas Donaldson, Tristan Miura and Cindy Xu placed 4th overall for their on-the-spot solution to the Improvisational Challenge.

“Insert Name Here”: Kyle Vavasour, Sam Bendl, Alanna Brooks, Ethan Jasny, Justin Jia, Gavin Yen and David Timko placed 1st for their Instant Challenge as well as 1st overall for their 8½ by 11 solution to the Technical Challenge.

“Mestale": Julia Bishop, Mason Ellis, Michelle Li, Natalie Lee, Betty Pan, Nerissa Wen and Makayla Wijanta were recipients of the Renaissance Award for excellence in the design and engineering of their optical illusion, and received 3rd overall for their colourful solution to the Fine Arts Challenge.

We also congratulate Oliver Stevenson, grade 5, who was a member of a community team, which placed 1st overall and 1st in the Instant Challenge.

Good luck to the teams competing in Knoxville, Tennessee at DI Globals next month!
