JS Pajama Day on May 12 for BC Children's Foundation

By Hannah K. '32, Aria B. '32, and Victoria S. '32

Hi, parents!

We would like to invite all children from JK-7 to wear pajamas on Tuesday, May 12. Students can bring $2-$5 donations for the Small is Mighty Foundation at BC Children's Hospital. When we came across a heartbreaking video about a child who was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia and was being treated by BC Children’s Hospital, it gave us an idea to start an initiative to help children like her. We immediately went to Mr. Lee, who helped us put all our ideas together . . . a pajama day! As grade 6 leaders, we are trying to show that every little action like donating blood, can make something mighty.

For those who don’t know, the Small is Mighty Foundation focuses on younger children's resilience to facing major life challenges like cancer and breathing issues. They seek to amplify everybody’s donations and use them carefully. They make sure every dollar is used for a cause and not wasted. The Small is Mighty Foundation was founded in November 2022 by BC Children’s Hospital. Like many other hospital foundations, it serves as a “cry” to showcase the immense strength of children facing unthinkable health challenges. Did you know that the Small is Mighty Foundation also launched a campaign named the Mighty Month of May? Throughout May, individuals and schools are encouraged to host their own mini-fundraisers to help the Small is Mighty Foundation. Our Pajama Day is what WPGA is going to do for the Mighty Month of May. So, join us in getting "dressed" for our first Small is Mighty Pajama Day on May 12!

If you have any questions, contact Aria, Hannah or Victoria or catch us in the hall!
