This past weekend, three delegates from our very Wolfpack participated in the inaugural Tournament of Champions, led by Harvard Model in Toronto. Chaperoned by Mr. Johnson, our socials and English teacher, the team of Sheree Li '26, Sohana Garg '27 and Matt Haberl '29 navigated the big city. Our first night was jam-packed with ping-pong, laughs, and a side of Toronto’s beautiful Gusto 101.
From this point onwards, nine energy drinks fueled six committee sessions as our delegates navigated the trials and tribulations associated with their various committees. Matt represented WPGA in the Crisis Committee, and Sohana and Sheree double delegated in the General Assembly. After debates, Sohana and Sheree won Outstanding Delegate, synonymous with 2nd place in the Canadian Tournament of Champions. Matt Haberl ran 13km consistently throughout his weekend stay, and the three delegates left with fun-filled memories of diplomacy, Roblox, and joy.
Congratulations to our Wolfpack, continuing to blaze the path toward a more diplomatic future. Thank you to Mr. Johnson for chaperoning us (and putting up with Sheree and Sohana’s long "get-ready" times!).
Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
