WPGA Ski & Snowboard Teams Shine in Smithers

By Ms. Kelly Macintyre, Co-Head of PE, Alpine Team Coach

WPGA’s ski and snowboard teams have returned from a successful and memorable trip to Smithers, BC, where they spent several exciting days competing on the slopes.

The teams represented WPGA with incredible spirit and enthusiasm. In fact, they were widely recognized on the mountain as the most spirited team, and several organizers and competitors complimented them for being some of the “nicest kids” at the event. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented the school.

The boys snowboard team delivered a strong performance, finishing 4th overall.

  • Terry Zhao earned a Bronze Medal in Giant Slalom and placed 5th in Banked Slalom.
  • Simón Fauser finished 7th overall in Giant Slalom and 12th in Banked Slalom.
  • Ivan Wang placed 12th overall in Giant Slalom.
  • Ethan Ho also competed strongly as part of the team.
The Boys Ski Team had an outstanding event, earning a silver medal overall.

  • Eric Miao placed 6th in Giant Slalom and 12th in Banked Slalom.
  • Cam Stanger finished 5th in Banked Slalom.
  • Tate Mickelson placed 7th in Banked Slalom.
  • Miller Dabbs finished 10th in Banked Slalom.
  • Oscar Bena, Erik Sedin, and Beau Pantages all contributed to the team’s strong performance.
The girls ski team also competed with determination and teamwork, finishing 8th overall. Team members included Stella Humphrey, Sarah Nazif, Liv Wittstock, Cadelle Roberts, and Viv Humphrey.

A special thank you goes to Chris Read and Piper, who joined the trip and provided tremendous support to the teams throughout the competition.

Congratulations to all of our athletes on a fantastic showing. Be sure to congratulate them when you see them around the school!
