Teresa '29 Shines on the Public Speaking World Stage

By Ms. Cindy Neufeglise-Ross, Senior School Counsellor

From April 11–18, our own Teresa Pan '29 represented WPGA at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships (WIDPSC) in Bristol, UK—and what an incredible experience it was!

Competing against students from across the globe, Teresa was one of the youngest participants in an international field that included competitors from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Bermuda, England, India, Lithuania, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, Vietnam, Malaysia, Morocco, the Republic of Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. The level of talent, preparation, and confidence on display was nothing short of inspiring.

Over three days of preliminary rounds, Teresa competed in four demanding categories: Impromptu Speaking, Persuasive Speaking, Interpretive Reading, and Debate. Teresa delivered standout performances, qualifying for the semifinals in both Impromptu and Persuasive Speaking. This is an outstanding achievement, especially given the strength and experience of the global competition.

Beyond the competition itself, the week offered an unforgettable opportunity to connect with peers from around the world, share ideas, and grow as a speaker and global citizen. We are incredibly proud of Teresa for representing WPGA with such integrity, enthusiasm, and excellence. Congratulations on an amazing achievement—you’ve truly made your mark on the world stage!
