Junior School Summer Reading Lists 2026

By Ms. Devin St-Amour and Ms. Caitlin Elias, Teacher Librarians

As the school year winds down and summer begins, we are excited to share the 2026 Junior School Summer Reading Lists for K-7! Summer reading is one of the best ways for students to maintain and strengthen their reading skills while discovering new stories, characters, and ideas.

All students entering grades 4–7 are asked to read a minimum of two books from their grade-level list over summer break. Students can keep track of the books they read in the Summer Reading Passport provided by the library. When students return in September, they will complete a classroom assignment connected to their summer reading.  If they bring their Summer Reading Passport to the library in September, they will receive recognition and five house points.

Whether students are relaxing at the beach, travelling with family, or enjoying a quiet afternoon at home, reading is a wonderful way to stay curious and connected to learning throughout the summer months.

Students will receive their reading lists before the end of the school year in their homeroom, and families can also find them on WolfNet > Resources > Summer Reading Lists. The lists are also available at Kidsbooks for easy purchasing.

We encourage families to make reading part of their summer routine and to enjoy exploring some great books together. Happy reading and have a wonderful summer!

Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
