Junior cross-country team kicks off the season in Coquitlam.
By Ms. A. Wilk, Cross-Country Coach
On Saturday, September 15, the junior school cross-country team gave it their all at a meet at Mundy Park in Coquitlam. The sunny sky and warm temperatures helped to boost the team's energy, and their enthusiasm (combined with preseason preparation) generated speedy results!
The Wolves got off to a strong start as coach Ruus won the women’s trail running race. Grades 3 to 7 runners ran their hilly 2.5 kilometre course next; top 6 finishers included Charlie Ford, Luca Comparelli, Kennedy Randall, Lulu Clement, Chase Williams, Kiaan Bondy, Heather Gadalla, Taylor Williams and Justin Faraday.
Congratulations to ALL of our runners!
Up next is the South Fraser Cross Country Meet on Saturday, September 22. On Monday, September 24, grades 6 and 7 runners will be charging up the Grouse Grind.
Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
