Grad Gets 1 Million YouTube Hits

Who gets a million hits on YouTube in five days? One of our uber-talented alumni, that's who. In fact, it's all about Doctor Who meets Sherlock Holmes. 

Ben Pickles, Class of 2012, created this imaginary trailer of sorts by combining scenes from two BBC shows, the hugely popular Doctor Who and Sherlock, to showcase a meeting between these shows' lead characters.  

In Ben's words (aka John Smith, his YouTube handle): 

"Months after an encounter with a mysterious "Doctor," Sherlock becomes obsessed with discovering more about this impossible man . . . until the man makes an unexpected return."

In anticipation of both the Doctor Who Christmas Special and the third series of Sherlock, I created a small crossover story. Though it may not be perfect, I'm still pretty happy with the results."

Fans of these shows are more than happy with Ben's incredible editing work, flocking to YouTube to view this and the "making of" video.   

One of Mr. McCauley's film and TV students at WPGA, Ben was in a league of his own when it came to movie-making and editing. Having graduated last year from Vancouver Film School, Ben continues to hone his skills and perfect his technique. We can't wait to see what he makes next.
