Looking back, what’s a moment at WPGA that has stayed with you—one that shaped who you are today?

Looking back, there are so many moments that have stayed with me: Warren Lee recruiting me to WPGA to take the swimming position so he could move into the Junior School to teach drama, my transition from PE to teaching JK, the delight of students in my grade 1 classes reading their first words, my daughters Fleur and Deryn’s first days at WPGA in JK, the joy of watching my grade 4 students care for their class snail pets, and Ciara offering me the library position. What has stayed with me most, though, is not any single moment, but the many small moments with students over the years. Watching them grow in confidence, discover who they are, and take pride in their learning has shaped me deeply. When former students return, eager to reconnect and share who they’ve become, it reminds me that the relationships built here last long beyond their time at WPGA.

What does the WPGA community mean to you and why?

The WPGA community means everything to me because I have spent more than half my life here. During that time, I got married, became a parent, and had the privilege of bringing my own children to this school. WPGA has helped shape not only my career but also my family. It has raised my children alongside me and, in many ways, helped raise me, too, through the relationships, support, and shared commitment to students that define this community.

How have you seen WPGA grow or change over the years—and what has remained the same?

Over the years, WPGA has grown in many visible ways, especially in its beautiful physical spaces and facilities. At the same time, what has remained the same is the feeling of being part of something truly wonderful. The strong sense of community, shared purpose, and care for students continues to be at the heart of the school.

What’s one lesson or value from WPGA that you carry into your life beyond school?

One lesson I carry from WPGA is that learning is a lot like the many stairs at our campus. Each step might feel small on its own, but taken together, they lead to real growth. Watching students take those steps, discovering, learning, and growing, has shown me how powerful encouragement, support, and presence can be in helping them reach their potential.

As we celebrate 30 years, what’s your hope or vision for the next 30?

As we celebrate 30 years, my hope for the next 30 is that WPGA continues to be the incredible school it is, shaping young lives with care, attachment, and guidance. I hope the community keeps inspiring students to grow, explore, and feel confident every step of the way. And, if all goes well, I plan to be here for the 50-year anniversary, celebrating the next generations of students and the spirit that makes this school so special.
