Courses in Information Technology help students develop the attitudes, skills, and knowledge needed to live effectively in an information-rich technological society. The Information Technology curriculum introduces students to computer programming, animation, film, graphic design and artificial intelligence. In studying these areas, WPGA students learn to use current technology to communicate and solve problems. Students also gain knowledge relevant to careers in Computer Science, Engineering, and the Arts.
AP PATHWAY
In Information Technology, students work towards completion of AP Computer Science. Students in AP courses can write the College Board Exam in May at a cost of $153.
Co-Curricular Activities related to IT
Students unable to take IT courses within their schedules are invited to participate in the co-curricular Computer Science Club. This club offers two streams, mirroring the emphasis of the IT courses offered: a computer programming focus and a digital arts focus. This club is offered one to two days a week during lunches, giving students the flexibility to explore their passions and pursue enrichment opportunities.
