Dear Senior School Families:
Welcome to the 2026–27 school year! Whether you are returning to WPGA or joining us for the first time, we are excited to have you as part of our Senior School Wolfpack.
A new school year always brings a fresh sense of possibility: a chance for students to reconnect, take on new challenges, and increasingly shape their high school experience. My ask of every student this year is simple: make it count. Some of the most memorable and rewarding moments happen when students step beyond what feels familiar, expand their peer circle, and become more involved in school life.
We’re delighted to welcome new colleagues to our faculty this year. Ty Barbieri joins our health and physical education department, bringing a passion for athletics and active learning as well as experience representing Team Canada in Ultimate Frisbee. Marianne Chang joins our math department following 29 years at York House School, while Emily Read, a former professional dancer with the Dutch National Ballet, will provide tutoring support in The Study.
We’re also pleased to welcome Gloria Lee to our University Counselling & Career Centre. With nearly two decades of experience in university guidance, admissions, and career education, Gloria will join our expanded university counselling team in providing students with personalized support as they explore their options and plan for life after WPGA.
Campus has been busy over the summer, too. Summer School in July was a great success, with students from WPGA, Vancouver College, and St. George’s enrolled in BC First Peoples 12. We are grateful to Dr. Jenise Boland for leading the course and to Ms. Lindsay Haider for supporting and chaperoning the field work.
We’ve also taken the opportunity to make facility improvements in the Senior School. A new custom-built meeting pod will provide teachers and parents with a welcoming, private space to connect. Renovations on two student washrooms are underway and will continue into September, and we appreciate your patience as we complete these final touches.
As we begin the year ahead, our goal remains the same: to help every student make the most of their Senior School experience. Whether that means joining a new club, trying out for a team, challenging themselves academically, or preparing for what comes next, our faculty and staff are here to support them along the way.
