Junior School

Dear Junior School Families:

I hope your family has enjoyed a restful summer. As we prepare to welcome students back to campus, I’m delighted to begin the 2026–27 school year with our new and returning families.

Across JK–7, our focus remains on helping every child grow in confidence, curiosity, and care for others. We will continue to provide rich and engaging learning experiences while thoughtfully considering the role of digital literacy and emerging technologies in our classrooms. Most importantly, we want every child to feel known, supported, and at home in our community. 

Campus has been busy over the summer, too. Across three weeks in June and July, we hosted fun and educational summer programs, with 1,486 registrations for camps including tennis, public speaking, theatre arts, chef camps, wilderness survival, and Lego spike coding. Huge thanks to Devin St-Amour, Summer Programs Director, and her staff, which included 43 senior student instructors and 66 student volunteers, for providing exceptional opportunities for children and young teens to explore new interests, build skills, and connect with their peers.

We’ve also been busy preparing our spaces for the year ahead. Over the summer, our grade 7 classrooms were refreshed with new furniture and lighting, and renovations were completed for washrooms for intermediate students as well as for staff/parents. These updates will help our spaces continue to meet the needs of our community.

We’re pleased to welcome new colleagues to the Junior School this year. Derek Heale joins our grade 7 homeroom team after most recently teaching a combined grade 6/7 class at Irwin Park Elementary in West Vancouver. He also brings 10 years of experience teaching junior high in Alberta, where he coordinated a recreational sports academy serving 140 students.

Jocelyn Chambers returns to the Wolfpack as a PE teacher. A WPGA graduate from the Class of 2020 and former WPGA Athlete of the Year, Jocelyn joins us from Crofton House and brings a strong background in swimming and coaching, including several years with the Vancouver Vikings Swim Club. AJ Matthews also joins our PE team after teaching grades 4 and 5 at Mulgrave School and coaching soccer across Junior and Senior Schools.

In addition, we're happy to welcome Vicki Costello (junior kindergarten) and Lauren Bell (languages department) back from parental leave.

Our faculty and staff are busy preparing classrooms and getting ready for students to soon fill our hallways again. Along with the Junior School Leadership Team, I look forward to welcoming you and your children back to campus and to a wonderful year of learning and growth.
