WPGA is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood. West 8th Ave is also a popular bike route and direct cycling route to UBC. To ensure the safety of students, staff and community members, please drive slowly, mindful of cyclists, pedestrians, and our crosswalk volunteers along 8th Ave. Families must drop-off and pick-up in the designated parking spots.
Drop-off, Pick-up & Parking:
Grades 8-12 Families: Use the 8th Avenue View lot (between Discovery and Courtenay). Note this is for drop-off only (westbound on 8th Ave); parking in this lot is reserved for public use.
Student Drivers: Parking is designated on the north side of 8th Avenue (between Discovery and Trimble). Students are not to park directly in front of neighbours' homes along 8th Ave. nor on Courtenay between 8th and 9th Ave.
The school driveway is accessible to staff, visitors, deliveries, and authorized families only (driveway pass required; contact Shaun Lum, Security Coordinator, for a short-term parking pass).
With limited parking, we encourage walking, biking, transit and carpooling. Covered bike racks are located adjacent the Senior School.
ELECTRIC CHARGERS
WPGA has electric vehicle charging stations in the JK/K parking lot and across from the Junior School that are reserved for our electric school buses and for limited staff use. The chargers are not for public use.
Since 1996, West Point Grey Academy has gratefully resided on the Jericho Lands, the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and sə̓lílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Honoured to learn and play on these beautiful lands, we endeavour to be a leader in Indigenous education. In creating shared understanding and opportunities, we hope to help foster a more equitable society for all.
