Looking back, what’s an experience at WPGA that has stayed with you—one that shaped who you are today?
That would be meeting my future wife (who was the school’s financial advisor!) and then bringing her to the Christmas party—to the surprise of Nancy Cromarty.
Another would be having Wendy McGee and Lindsay Haider buy Girl Guide cookies from my daughters when they were young, and then later teaching my girls in the Senior School. And me being Lindsay’s teacher when she was a student at WPGA. A full circle moment!
What does the WPGA community mean to you and why?
It’s the place where I grew professionally in my role, having support, being mentored by colleagues, and then having my own kids be supported by the same network.
How have you seen WPGA grow or change over the years—and what has remained the same?
The willingness of our colleagues to step up. Super good people to work with. Theatre productions. Film and TV term ends. Convocation ceremonies. The amazing students that we continually get year after year. The connection we have between students and teachers is unique. A warm, caring, fun community. The mindfulness of thinking of each person and helping them strive to be for their potential both students and teachers alike. A sense of pride in working at WPGA and seeing our students thrive when they move on. Last, the diversity of activities!
What’s one lesson or value from WPGA that you carry into your life beyond school?
That if you build it, they will come.
As we celebrate 30 years, what’s your hope or vision for the next 30?
A new school! For us to keep striving, innovating, and risking. And lastly, to win the girls soccer provincials.
